Wheeling YMCA Capital Campaign

Support the long-term growth and future of your YMCA with a donation towards our capital campaign.

The YMCA builds strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

The Wheeling YMCA has a strong history in the Ohio Valley. In order to continue providing services to our current and future youth and our community, the Wheeling YMCA kicked off a $7 million capital campaign to improve the interior and exterior facilities of the Y. The YMCA needs your support to complete the phases of our campaign to secure a strong future for the Wheeling YMCA.

Why the Y?

The Wheeling YMCA’s current building is very outdated. It was built in 1974 and hasn’t had any cosmetic improvements since its original construction. Services offered by the YMCA have flourished since the creation of the building, but as services change and expand, improvements become necessary.

Added Child Care

The Wheeling YMCA offered no childcare in 1976. In 2023, it is our largest program.

Expanded Youth Sports

There were very few youth sports programs in the beginning. We now run several programs monthly.

Increased Membership

Memberships are at an all-time high.

Improved Fitness Classes

Group fitness programs weren’t as popular. We now offer several classes daily.

Better Family Access

We offer all services at a lower rate and provide a more family-friendly atmosphere.

More Amenities

An updated all-purpose room will allow us to always have a gym open for members. Adding an indoor walking track will equip us with everything our local competitor has.

Improved Safety & Customer Service

A new lobby will ensure the safety of our children, members and staff.

Updated Atmosphere

Updated adult locker rooms will provide a more comfortable atmosphere, less spreading of germs, and a more cost-efficient setting.

View Phases

“The expansion of the YMCA will provide valuable services for Ohio County Schools students. Our community is blessed to have the YMCA providing a myriad of camps and programs designed to enhance the physical, mental and social development of our young people. This expansion will allow the YMCA to grow as a facility and increase programs and services that promote youth development, healthy living, community building, and social responsibility.”

– Dr. Kimberly Miller, Ohio County Schools
